Resorter
Overview.
In 2019, I completed an internship at a small start-up. They were building an application that enables users to book ski lessons and resorts on one platform.
Role.
I was hired as a 'UX Design Intern'. My role was to develop wireframes, work with the developers and conduct simple user and competitor research.

Design Process
Given, the overall goal was to push a MVP. We followed a Lean UX Process.
1.
ESTABLISH BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS
While I was given mini-tasks, my major task was to design the pages for the future functionality they were planning to implement. In this stage, I spent time with the CEO to understand the business and their users.
2.
USER & competitor RESEARCH
Given this was a start-up, investment in user research was limited. The CEO organized discussions with skiers and ski instructors to help understand what this industry was lacking in, in terms of technology. I also conducted a lot of internet research into current competitors and how they structured their site and architecture.
3.
HEURISTIC EVALUATION
I wanted to find usability issues in their current site, to better inform my design decisions. Therefore, I conducted a heuristic evaluation. Some of the issues I found included:

Too much functionality on one single page.

No landing or home page to inform users of site purpose.

Some functionality was broken.

Navigation was hidden, took long to find.

Not enough feedback or error recovery for users.
4.
WIREFRAME CREATION
I created desktop and mobile-friendly wireframes with Figma. We used an Agile process. Therefore, I got to receive feedback from my wireframes at the daily stand-up meetings.
5.
FINAL DESIGNS
Below is an image of some of the wireframes I created. Shown below, is the home page, finding an private instructor page, the instructor profile page and finding a host page.
The biggest change was redesigning the information architecture. We used card sorting to help determine the most usable structure of the site. However, these designs have not been implemented yet. You can check our Resorter's current site here.
